eWork
eWork is a very new form of work practice and it has become almost a norm rather than an exception--or at least it's become more prevalent. To make e-work succeed, people often think it's only a question of working confidently with the technologies. But there is a range of other issues that people need to learn about; Like changes in the way the organization works, and changes in the culture of work. For that you need to be accompanied by a flexible but systematic skills that you are able to achieve open, honest, and regular communication to sustain strong, trusting relationships. And what does this mean in practice?
Case South-Africa: eWorking was a way of working by using information and communication technologies in which work was carried out independent of location.
Efire.fi and HostaGlobal have co-operated with Virginastrology.com –project and during the project we have used Efire's distance work tools like Halli - organization management software, Drupal CMS and Openmeetings for distance work. Efire's distance work tools have been very effective for managing project succesfully, and we experienced following areas most useful :
Communication; we do not share office so we keep in touch with effective electronic document sharing of work and messaging by email, mobile and online meeting software and use new reporting procedures.
Time management; it has helped us becoming more self-reliant for time management – we are able to share work schedules and running scheduling applications remotely.
We strongly belive that by using Efire's distance work tools we have been able to accomplished work effectively, improved productivity and enhanced customer service. Efire's tools has given us better use of facilities and it has given our business the edge !
